I’ve been a fan of Dallas’ A.Dd+ since DJ Sober put me on to them at SXSW 2 years ago. We stayed in touch about what they’ve had going on and I was geeked when they reached out about doing a remix of one of their tracks. These dudes are dumb talented, grind hard, consistently put out good music, and have a great live show! (If they’re in your town, GO SEE THEM.)
Thanks to Sober for making the connect (and killing the art!) and to Rosalinda for making it all happen. #ADdHoe

For the final year that APT (the legendary NYC nightspot) was open, Moma & I held down second Fridays for our monthly party, Special Delivery. Very quickly, it became one of the high points of my month, along with The Rub. Days before our 1 year anniversary in 2010, APT was shut down for good. In the past 2 and a half years, we’ve done Special Delivery as one-offs, but were always holding out for the right venue to get it up and running right. We finally found it!
Join us Thursday, June 28th as we jump-off the all new weekly Special Delivery at Viktor & Spoils!
Fridays mornings are about to get rough again.
We’re dusting off our khakis & Chucks for the launch of this summer’s Str8 West Coastin’ series on this Saturday, June 16th. In addition to ringing in Jessica from co-sign and Michelle from Audible Treats’ birthdays, we’re also celebrating the bornday of the one Tupac Shakur. For such a momentous occasion, Still Life & I had to go big and get fellow Cali transplant J. Period to come through and join us. Check the flyer for details and the mix to get you in the mood.
Eugene Tamborine and myself just let our remix of Goapele’s “Play” fly this week. (Check the Soundcloud player to download it.) Thanks to DJ Icewater for the mix, Ricardo Guitierrez for the master, and Dee Phunk for the art.
Plus, as an added and very unexpected bonus, our Yum Yum homie Tand Williams came with the ill video!
I’m been scheming on this party for MONTHS. A chance to get some of my favorite DJs together in one place with some of my favorite people and celebrate a day when everything comes up elevens? Yeah, I’ll take that. Here’s the story:
Friday, November 11, 2011
The Red Bull Space – 40 Thompson Street (at Watts), NYC
Music by Mick Boogie, Max Glazer, DJ Moma, Matthew Africa,
DJ Illo, and these guys called The Rub,
Hosted by Donwill & Mike Baker The Bike Maker
9PM-1AM, open bar all night, $11.
There are a VERY limited number of tickets available at www.eleven11eleven.eventbrite.com/.
Grab them NOW. Because when they’re gone, they’re gone.
At my other other other job, at 11 Inch Records, we’re celebrating the release of “Diamond”, the solo debut by Kutcorners, a great Vancouverite & friend of The Rub. It is an absolutely irresistible track that captures the best of 80s New Wave and Boogie and features the vocals of Curtis Santiago. Kutcorners channels the sounds of Luther Vandross, Nu Shooz, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, all the while adding a crisp production twist that kills dancefloors. There’s also additional remixes of “Diamond” included in this EP from an incredible group of producers: PPP/The Bling 47 Group’s Waajeed, San Francisco’s J-Boogie (OM Records), Kutcorner’s Canadian brothers Audience, DJ DRM (Bastard Jazz), and New Zealand’s She’s So Rad. Plus, it also has illmatic art by the one & only Kalani Fujimori.
This Thursday, June 23rd, myself, Lindsey, Myles and Sure Shot are celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of our little FAM party. We’ll be commemorating the occasion with a night full of the finest R&B ever recorded. (If you didn’t make it to our Holiday R&B party, let me just tell you… You do not want to miss it!) You can catch us in the basement of Von – 3 Bleecker Street btwn Bowery & Lafayette – from 9PM until the slow jams end at 3AM.
It took a minute, but I FINALLY got this remix of John Legend’s take on Adele’s monster hit polished up just hours before heading to the airport for my European jaunt. (A rougher version is on the promo mix I put up for the trip over here.) Thanks to the Yum Yum guys in Germany for providing the inspiration, Eugene Tamborine for the additional keys, and Icewater for his deft engineering hand. I hope you enjoy!
