Good news for all DJ Eleven fans as he has created a one-stop shop for nearly all of his mixes released. Our pals over at MixCloud have featured numerous projects from The Rub, including our History of Hip-Hop and our last Southpaw party, but we are proud to be able to showcase all of the tireless work DJ Eleven has put in on each of these very unique mixes.
Friends of The Rub – The Freshest
Posted: April 13, 2012 Filed under: Friends of The Rub, MP3, Rub Radio, The RubOur next installment of “Friends of The Rub” showcases a really unique live project by Vancouver DJ team The Freshest (comprised of DJ’s Seko, Marvel, Kutcorners, and Rico Uno). The duo of DJ Marvel and Kutcorners absolutely crush it here with a mix of R&B/Rap tricked out with some dirty synths and keys, all played live. They make this look far too easy!
Keep in touch with The Freshest by checking out their website as well as their Twitter timeline.

Scott Melker Edit – Lana Del Ray vs Jay-Z
Posted: March 16, 2012 Filed under: MP3, Rub Radio, The RubExtended Rub family member and featured guest tonight, Scott Melker, brings us a big big track giveway today of a new edit he has made.
We’ve worked with Scott Melker for years, as he has guested at the Rub numerous times, toured with Rub members, and even collaborated on mixes with us as well. He’s one of New York’s top DJ’s that fits in with our mentality perfectly.
We are ecstatic to have him play with us tonight and even more gratified to offer you his new remix:
Live at Southpaw (February 2012)
Posted: March 1, 2012 Filed under: MP3, Rub Radio, The Rub | Tags: February 2012 Live MixWe put a whole lot of thought into our sets for the last one at Southpaw, and we wanted to hit a ton of Rub “standards” from the past 9 years in addition to the brand new music and classics we’re known for. The party was completely rammed from 10 PM til 4:00 AM, and this two hours is chopped down from the entire six hours we recorded. We edited it to reflect the arc of the party and tried to leave in the best parts without fucking up the flow too much, and you can hear all the drunken shoutouts and some of the crowd noise. This was the most fun party we’ve ever DJed in our lives, and we think it’s just a taste of what’s to come.
This Saturday we’re joined at The Rub by the legendary DJ Fashen and the invincible, untouchable Deep Sang and Meistro. And yes, that is Ed O.G. feeding a duck on the flyer. Why not?

After playing with Grandtheft at last year’s Olympics in Vancouver and releasing his music on T&A Records, I finally got him for The Rub! Here is a mix he just did of music from his native Montreal, click through to his Soundcloud for the tracklist and a lot more music.

My Mixpak FM just came out – a mix that includes dancehall, uk funky house, moombahton, jungle, grime, dub and roots reggae. You should already be familiar with Mixpak, the label behind Vybz Kartel & Dre Skull, Melé, Koyote, Sissy Nobby and a plethora of others. I’m really proud of how this one came together and their write-up is very flattering. Stream and download here, tracklist after the jump.

Bang Noyes just came out on Young Robots, a label I’m helping to run along with Philadelphyinz and RCMP. The group consists of 7L (of 7L & Esoteric and Bladerunners), Braun (of Bladerunners) and Spadafore, a studio musician from Miami who has produced hits for Juelz Santana, DJ Khaled and many others. The best way I can describe it is if 1993 Todd Terry had access to 2011 gear and production techniques. They gave us so many tracks that we couldn’t fit them all on the EP, so we’re giving away a couple of bonus joints. Don’t say we never did nothing for ya!

I banged this out backstage at The Rub so I could give this song a little more energy from the jump… both start with Lil Wayne’s verse rather than B.O.B., and have a more familiar, mixable intro. Strictly for the DJs!
