#TBT – Rub Radio – May 2015

TBT this week is when we used the May 2015 edition of Rub Radio as an excuse to hop into the Delorean and fire up the flux capacitor for a quick romp through 80s synth-pop, new wave and post-punk. Classic feels across the board from Ministry, Depeche Mode, Kim Wilde, Duran Duran, New Order and so many others. You can revisit this mix with the full stream above or free download below.

The History of Hip Hop 2007 by Brooklyn Radio on hearthis.at

TBT this week to our History of Hip-Hop mix from 2007. Are these tunes really 10 years old at this point? Good lord. So many of these gems were club bangers and were downloaded in masses on the Hollerboard and some of them even got famous on that infamous messageboard. Arguable that B.o.B.’s career was started there, flat earth controversy many years later aside. What an amazing year for rap. Ye, Jay, Benny & Spankrock, Kid Cudi, Dude & Nem, Cool Kids, Kid Sis, Rich Boy, 50 and so much more. Revisit this amazing year for rap with the stream above and free download below.

#TBT – Rub Radio – March 2014

TBT this week takes us back to Spring 3 years ago with the March 2014 edition of Rub Radio. Bunch of huge names here like Beyonce, Katy Perry, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Major Lazer, etc and some anthems like Drunk In Love and YG’s My Nigga are probably hits forever. But what really standouts in this mix is the absolute bangers from some of these aforementioned big names, and some names that may or may not be household in 2017, that didn’t really run game on the charts. The Maino, Juvenile, Justin Martin, Jack Beats and Major Lazer joints really stand out. That old Blaqstarr tune sprinkled in always sounds fresh as well. Revisit this one in full above.

Beyonce – Drunk in Love Remix ft. Kanye West
Katy Perry – Dark Horse Remix ft. Juicy J
Maino – Watch Me Do It ft. T.I. & French Montana
Juvenile – Pay The Rent ft. Jeezy & Yo Gotti

DJ Kay Slay – ‘90s Flow ft. Ghostface, Raekwon & Sheek Louch

Odysseus – Hold On ft. Ruby Goe
Danny Torrence & Richard Beynon – All I Gave To You (Prince Club Into The Future Radio Edit)
Sammy Bananas – Never Say
Chromeo – Come Alive ft. Toro Y Moi (Le Youth Remix)
Pharrell – Come Get It Bae ft. Miley Cyrus
Blaqstarr – Supastar 2.0

#TBT – Rub Radio – March 2013

#TBT this week to Rub Radio 4 years ago with the March 2013 edition. Surkin had just dropped an insane new EP that’s criminally underrated to this day. PSY was a global phenomenon so much that Diplo remixed him. Flume was still a super unknown. JT was in the midst of 20/20 Experience domination. Classix and Aeroplane were 2 of the hottest names in house music. And vibes in general were starting to win out over the aggressive turn up. Revisit that full stream above and grab the download below.

Surkin – Oedo 606
Hyperparadise (Flume Remix)
Psy – Gangnam Style (Diplo Remix ft. 2 Chainz & Tyga)
UZ – I Got This ft. Trae Da Truth, Trinidad James & Problem
Ace Hood – Got Damn ft. Plies
Big KRIT – Shine On ft. Bun B
Kendrick Lamar – Now Or Never ft. Mary J. Blige
Justin Timberlake – Strawberry Bubblegum
Rhye – Open (Jeff Samuels Faded Mix)
Classix – Holding On
Kimbra – Two Way Street (Aeroplane Remix)
The Freshest – Call Your Name (DJ Theory Remix)

#TBT – Rub Radio – January 2014

#TBT this week comes from the Rub Radio archives. 3 years ago for 2014 definitely doesn’t sound like that long ago. It’s light years in internet time though. Luckily the ears of Ayres of Eleven are keen to sounds that stick around. And there’s a few tracks from this mix holding strong in DJ sets to this day. Kid Ink, Yo Gotti, Busta w/ Q-Tip and Beyonce all stand out here. Inclusions here from future big names like Baauer, Tensnake & Gorgon City don’t hurt either. Revisit this one in full above with the download below.

#TBT – Rub Radio – October 2012

TBT this week to the October 2012 edition of Rub Radio. Lot’s of cool stuff from 4 years ago here. You’ve got Disclosure’s “Latch” appearing on a mixtape 2 years before it broke through in the U.S. You’ve got TNGHT with their biggest tune that ended up getting used numerous times for licensing. You’ve got two Clyde Carson sightings (where did this dude go?) and a huge tune from Chinx Drugz (RIP). Lot’s of other heatrocks in here too. Revisit the stream in full above and download below.
