“It’s The Motherfucking Remix” Volumes 1 (2005) and Volume 2 (2006) were mixed compilations of wildly inventive blends and remixes from DJ Ayres, DJ Eleven and Cosmo Baker plus guests from their legendary monthly Brooklyn residency, The Rub. Like the party, the vibe was anything goes, as long as it was funky. Pitchfork called the first CD “Motherfucking Brilliant,” MTV said “cop it – only if you’re ready to dance,” Spin put it on “Heavy Rotation,” and URB called the series “legendary.”
Volume 3 continues the tradition but steps it up exponentially, with contributions from a star-studded cast of DJs from all over North America who have graced the party. Musically, the DJs work from a palette of 40 years of pop music and underground favorites, blending in old school hip-hop, eighties funk, electro anthems, Motown classics, dancehall reggae and even kuduro and dubstep all mixed up in a way that somehow makes perfect sense. New music from the likes of Tittsworth, Kid Sister and Diplo is reimagined and recombined with dusty beats from James Brown, the Lafayette Afro Rock Band and Stevie Wonder.

“Ayres and Eleven knew they have a good thing going with the Glamorous Life series so they went and did the logical thing and made part 3! (About time too, it’s been like 4 years since the second one.) Like the previous volumes, the selection is top notch 80’s (a great blend of educated sureshots, soulful boogie, garage classics and poppin’ funk) and the mixes and cuts are flawless as you would expect. Features tracks from the likes of Zapp, Teena Marie, Midnight Star, Gap Band, Gwen Guthrie. The dudes don’t disappoint! 34 tracks, about an hour and 15 minutes.”

That’s right, it’s the sequel! DJ Ayres & DJ Eleven are at it again with more 80s R&B, New Jack Swing, Disco & Slow Jams for dancing, primping, roller skating, heavy petting or jumping on the bed.
Return To TopOriginally recorded to give to friends for the holidays, The Glamourous Life ended up being a huge hit for Eleven & Ayres all over the world. Who knew 80s R&B could still move so many asses? Get your grown and sexy on.
Return To TopDudes gone wild! Check out the Turntable Lab review:
“Hip-House 2 finds the BK/Philly duo laying down another party-starting mix of hip-house staples and uptempo hip-hop jams. A large part of the success of the first one was this carefree disregard for the musical Berlin Wall that supposedly divides house music from hip-hop. Ayres and Cosmo do a great job of operating from a middle ground between the two genres, equally appeasing house-heads and hip-hoppers alike by casting a wide net in their choice of track selections, ranging from rare Stetsasonic to the Jungle Brothers, a requisite remix of Missy’s “Lick Shots,” and loads more. Extra props to the boys for keeping things fresh with leftfield/ broken beat joints.” Everything’s mixed in a proficient and smooth style that keeps things moving.” – DJ Language
Return To TopDJ Ayres and Cosmo Baker put in work blending new hip-hop accapellas with classic house tracks, plus old school Chicago and New York hip-house, fast rap and a pinch of Baltimore club. Let the acid take control!
Return To TopRub Up is a double party mix of those classic dancehall reggae 45s you sing along to when you go out but don’t know the name of – think of it as “Dancehall 102.” Disc one is a set of slower 80s and 90s lovers rock, gunman and ganja tunes. Disc two gets into more primetime jump up sides from the 1990s, a golden era for dancehall reggae and the decade when DJ Eleven and DJ Ayres were cutting their teeth spinning clubs in the Bay Area and NYC. The djs expertly juggle 45s from Sleng Teng, Stalag, Heavenless, Arab Attack, Filthy, Pepperseed, Action, Medicine and many more riddims. Whether you’re the deepest dancehall fan or just getting into the music, whether you’re in the mood to wine up your waist or light up a spliff, Rub Up is sure to satisfy.

“France’s Disque Primeur label has issued this super official 2CD live set, recorded in (where else?) Indianapolis, IN. Now, I was never a skratcchh nerd, never listened to bootleg ISP tapes or nothing, but I can definitely respect the seamless way that A-Trak fuses his scratchy roots with his newfound inner party rocker. Ayres, Cosmo & A-Trak’s tag team set is predictably great and features loads of blends and routines they built especially for the tour — so even if you’ve been to every Rub ever, you’ll still find something new here. Tucked away at the bottom of CD2 are some unmixed, digital-quality gems from the tour: A-Trak’s awesome Lil Wayne / Richie Spice blend from the last Hollertronix volume, Cosmo’s dope Temptations / Applause riddim blend and Ayres’ Ying Yang / Yaz track.” – Chris Lemonred
