DJ Ayres + DJ Eleven: The Glamorous Life 3

When we dropped this CD earlier in the year, Turntable Lab wrote “Ayres and Eleven knew they have a good thing going with the Glamorous Life series (GL #2 was not only a certified Lab best seller, it’s one of the most played mixes in the Lab office EVER) so they went and did the logical thing and made part 3! (About time too, it’s been like 4 years since the second one.) Like the previous volumes, the selection is top notch 80’s (a great blend of educated sureshots, soulful boogie, garage classics and poppin’ funk) and the mixes and cuts are flawless as you would expect. Features tracks from the likes of Zapp, Teena Marie, Midnight Star, Gap Band, Gwen Guthrie. The dudes don’t disappoint!” Now we’re giving it to you for free, because we’re that type of guy.

Want over 30 MOP tracks, all masterfully mixed together? Simply click here to download DJ Eleven’s ‘Fight Music: The Best Of MOP’, which pretty much does what it says in the title. Now read on to hear him break down the science of the mix… Salute!
When did the idea to do an MOP mix come about?
“I’ve always felt like dudes were criminally underrated, long been a huge fan, and had always wanted to do a project which would allow me to listen to MOP for months on end. So when I was presented with the chance to get a connect to them through the Spitkicker guys, I jumped at the chance. Sure, it took well over a year to make it happen, but it was worth the wait.”

I’m always looking for a good excuse to spend a bunch of time going through new reggae, especially when I’m on the road. Sheeit, any old excuse will do. Ayres & I decided we wanted to do a giveaway with our “Rub Up” mixCD (art & tracklist at www.djeleven.com/rub_up.html) so a new mix of reggae is the perfect promo for it. Boom! Excuse delivered. For the lucky first 50 people to email us at itstherub@gmail.com with their mailing address, you will have a shiny new copy of “Rub Up” in your mailbox in a couple weeks. – DJ Eleven
