3.7 – That New New

Another week and of course, a bunch of new noteworthy music dropping in our ears and on these here internetz. TNN is back after a week away and we’ve gathered up some of the choice goodies from the past week or so. As most of you are probably aware, Kendrick Lamar dropped a surprise 8 track album Thursday night and it’s now known that it’s a companion piece to last year’s heavily lauded To Pimp A Butterfly. Below you can listen to Untitled 02 (06.23.2014). Tyler the Creator decided to jump on Freestlye 4 from Kanye’s latest and made a video acting a fool in the studio with some other familiar faces that’s well worth the watch and listen. Mavado’s latest So Bazzel dropped this past week as well and it’s a super tough new dancehall record per usual. Wrapping up this week’s collection is the latest from Main Course Records acts BOT and Sage Armstrong. Diamond Rangs is a gritty house anthem ready to rip through the summer. Check out all 4 new tunes in full below.

#TBT – DJ Eleven – The Next Spit Vol. 3

TBT this week is DJ Eleven’s super tight Next Spit Vol. 3 mix he did with the legendary MF Doom hosting as part of the Spitkicker series. This refreshing revisit to a day where the beats and rhymes were super tight showcasing some the names that helped bridge the gap between underground and mainstream, before that was ever really a thing to think about or consider. Tracks from the likes of Murs, 8 Ball & MJG, the aforementioned Doom, Little Brother and more pepper this fantastic mix that’s well worth the revisit below.

In addition to DJing on the solo tip, he’s also been developing his Black Russian production project with Mike Dextro over the past several years with a grip of releases under their collective belts. 2.22 – That New New

It goes without saying that there have already been a number of big releases from some big names in 2016 and that list is only going to keep growing. This week for #TNN though, the last full week of February…we’re giving some shine to some lesser known new heat. First we’ve got the gawd, J Dilla, and his new single for his recently announced forthcoming posthumous album “The Diary” (due 4/15). Next we’ve got a new freebie from another Detroit native ZeelooperZ coming on some punk rock rowdy rap that’s also almost gritty warehouse techno at times. Last tune this week comes from the derevolutions that reminds you so much of The Avalanches it hurts. Peep all 3 in full below.
