We’re 10 days from Christmas and you might think the flow of quality new music would slow down, but that really doesn’t appear to be happening. In years past, you’ve seen an influx of holiday themed releases like compilations, bootleg packs and even a packaged catalog of a year’s worth of releases. This year seems to be much more focused on new and original content and it’s made finding material for this column this time of year much easier than expected. This week for #TNN (That New New), we’ve got a new one from Pusha T’s forthcoming album with The-Dream on the hook and Boi-1da on the beat. There’s a crazy new collab from Chance the Rapper with Jeremih and R. Kelly features. And finally a new kid on the block in Flybear with the most interesting “future beats” tune I’ve heard in a minute. Stream all 3 in full below.

To call Mister Cee a hip hop legend is an understatement. He began as Big Daddy Kane’s DJ in the 80s, associate executive produced BIG’s Ready to Die in the 90s, and DJed on Hot 97 for 20 years. Currently finding his home on New York’s 103.9 six days a week, The Finisher Mister Cee is truly one of NYC’s greatest DJs, and he NEVER stops repping Brooklyn!
Learn about the man and join us this Friday at Verboten in welcoming him to The Rub. Check out his recent 2Pac tribute mix below.

TBT: History of Hip-Hop 1998 (Mixed by DJ Ayres)
Posted: December 3, 2015 Filed under: TBT | Tags: DJ Ayres, TBT
#TBT today has us looking back at 1998 and what an interesting year for hip-hop that was. Immediately post Biggie and 2Pac murders, it was invigorating to see (and hear) so many great tracks seemingly inspired by the void those two legends left behind. Or maybe all of this music was slotted for ’98 anyways and it was mere coincidence timeline wise. Who knows. Whatever the case may be, so many anthems and crew bangers dropped this year and a ton of it is mixed to perfection here by DJ Ayres as part of the History of Hip-Hop mix series. Stream and download are below.
