FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week is bass music queen and, one of our special guest for the next party at Verboten, is Star Eyes. She’s been an integral part of Trouble & Bass (RIP) and has been killing it steady for the Red Bull Music Academy in more ways than one. We’re so stoked to have her DJ with us on the 9th and you can preview some of her “Night Bass” type things via a B2B set with Petey Clicks from earlier in the year below. Make sure and cop your presale tickets for the next party at Verboten HERE.

We’re joined this month at The Rub at the Bell House by one of our favorite Bay Area transplants to Brooklyn, HNRL representative DJ Tap 10. A great dude with impeccable taste and a killer instinct when he’s rocking a party, you definitely don’t want to miss his debut at The Rub this Saturday. To get your mind right, check out volumes 1 & 2 of his “Hoodrat Tendencies” mix series and then slide into “Champagne Soul” when you’re ready to smooth it out.

DJ mOma has been a friend of The Rub for almost as long as The Rub has existed and he’s rocked the party more times than we can count. A Queen representer to the end, Mo killed this all Q Borough mix on Sway in the Morning a couple weeks ago. Always ahead of the curve, always on point musically, and always moving the crowd, catch mOma at his wildly successful Everyday People party, at Le Bain on Wednesdays with Eli Escobar, or at any of the great nights he does around NYC, on the east & west coasts, and all over the world.

Our 2nd FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week and one of our special guests this Friday at Verboten is New York DJ staple, DJ Wonder. Whether it’s been through his radio work over the years at Hot 97, and now at Shade45 with Sway In The Morning, or his constant array of high profile club gigs, Wonder always seems to be on the grind. We’re very stoked to have him throw down his always unique blend of hip-hop, dance music and scratching in a party setting. Check his recent #SUMMERFRIDAYS mix from a couple months ago below and don’t his is set this Friday!

So it’s officially Rub week again for our new event at Verboten and we’ve got a massively stacked lineup for this Friday. Our headliner and a longtime FOTR (Friend of The Rub) is DJ Craze, who in all honesty should need no introduction. Straight up, he’s one of the best DJ’s on the planet. End of story. He and fellow FOTR Fourcolorzack released a new mix last week going at the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ list and all that it represents. It’s featured below and definitely worth the listen. It’s a great conversation piece in response to all the “press play” DJs out there. And definitely do not miss Craze shutting down Verboten along with Sammy Bananas and DJ Wonder this Friday.

Our FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week is our longtime friend, Sammy Bananas. He’ll be joining us on Sept. 11 for our next edition of The Rub at Verboten. Sammy has been a homie since way back in the Certified Bananas days and he’s made some great records over the past several years to supplant his status as a very talented producer. His DJ sets have always been so fun as well and we’re stoked to have him on the bill for next Friday. Check out this great mix below he did at the Mixpak HQ earlier this year and don’t miss his set on the 11th!

FOTR: Friendly Greg
Posted: August 27, 2015 Filed under: Friends of The Rub | Tags: fotr, Friendly GregOur 2nd and final FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week is Friendly Greg. He’s been an NY DJ staple for some time now, opening up for and playing with a who’s who of dope people who make music. Some quick googling will also reveal that he started the very cool Panda Toes (R.I.P.) blog years ago and has his name tied to some very influential events while in college at Dartmouth in the late ’00s. We’re stoked to have him play some tunes with us at The Bell House on Saturday and a quick listen to any of his mixes, like the one below, will show you why.

Our first FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week and one of our guests this Saturday for The Rub at The Bell House, is Scott Matelic. Scott’s been in NY (via Indianapolis) now for a number of years now and has guested with us at The Rub in the past. His DJing style is one of our favorites in the city and we’re so psyched to have him back at the party. His production skills are nothing to sneeze at as well. Check out his tough new co-production with Patrick Stuckey for The Comdot below and make sure to put Saturday’s festivities on your calendar.

Our first FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week, in leading up to our big kickoff party at Verboten this Friday (get your tickets HERE), is Lauren Flax. Lauren’s been a massive contributor to the electronic dance music scene in NY over the years with her group CREEP and her constant solo efforts. We’re incredibly stoked to be able to bring this type of dance music element to The Rub at Verboten as Lauren is as good as it gets. Check out her recent live set recorded at The Bunker below to get yourself all hyped for this Friday’s event. Click some of Lauren’s links to get yourself fully familiar as well.

Longtime NYC creative and nightlife contributor DJ Lindsey is our #FOTR (Friend of The Rub) this week. She’s been a part of some legendary club nights in NY such as APT and The Hump and has contributed vocals to tracks with the likes of The Rapture, Beans and Eli Escobar. She’s even on the shortlist of DJs for Prince when he gets the bug to throw a private event. Just yesterday, Lindsey dropped her brand new solo single that’s got an exclusive stream currently up on The Fader that was co-produced by The Twilight Tone and Sammy Bananas. She’s also one of our very special guests for next week’s kickoff of The Rub. Check out the new single and all her links below.
