TBT this week is a look back to last year when we dropped our Best of New York tribute mix showcasing our picks for the best in NY music for the last 15 years. Combing through all this great music to narrow it down was definitely a challenge but a fun one at that. Whether it’s Busta, Jay, A$ap Rocky, Santigold, The Rapture, Metro Area or TV on the Radio (or so many others), there’s been such a healthy contribution of inspiring music from NY based artists in the last 15 years and change. Coming up on the year anniversary of this mix and bringing it back today for the revisit. Stream in full below and download is below.

#TBT – Rub Radio

TBT this week focuses on another one of our career highlights, Rub Radio. This monthly mix can be traced back to our radio show for Scion, which made the jump over to Brooklyn Radio after a few years. It’s become a platform to showcase what’s new and exciting in our collective music worlds as well as showcasing some great music from our friends. Sometimes we even have our DJ friends take the wheel and give us a guest mix. Some choice selections from the series are below along with some links to the entire collection and a way to subscribe to the series every month. Enjoy!

#TBT – Rub Radio July 2013

TBT this week is a quick shot back 3 years to our anniversary Rub Radio mix from July 2013. Lots of bangers on this mix and some unfortunately have become a bit forgotten in a very short amount of time. You’ve got pre Run The Jewels El-P and Killer Mike, Grandtheft and Skratch Bastid’s fantastic “Miley” tune, Drake’s quiet anthem in “The Motion” and a couple of Rub tune sightings as well. Summer is in full effect and it’s about to be that time to celebrate year 14 of The Rub. Stream and download below.

#TBT – Rub Radio – May 2013

TBT this week takes a look back to May of 2013 with that month’s edition of Rub Radio from 3 years ago. First glimpse at this tracklist is like “wow are these tracks really 3 years old already?”. But it’s true as Disclosure and Duke Dumont were just getting their feet planted on the global scene, Flosstradamus was just beginning to get a second life from the EDM trap explosion and it was really just an interesting thing at the time that “Blurred Lines” felt a similar vibe to “Got To Give It Up” before lawsuits in regards to the likeness were even a thing. Lots of fire in this mix though and some tracks that have really stood the test of time as there are some long term staples in here for sure. Revisit this bad boy in full and make sure to subscribe to Rub Radio below!

#TBT – Rub Radio – April 2013

#TBT today to Rub Radio’s April edition from three years ago and reminisce what the summer of 2013 sounded like. You’ve got the eventual #1 record in the country in Daft Punk and Pharrell’s “Get Lucky” which went on to dominate the Grammies in February of 2014. Major Lazer’s “Bumaye”, which was a glimpse into their potential global appeal and is still a record that slams in the club. James Blake’s “Retrograde” rounded out the mix and hinted at an album forthcoming that was going solidify him as a voice of the decade. Lots of other notables in here like Rustie, Lil Wayne, Big Sean and more. Revisit in full below!

Rub Radio February 2016 – Rok One Edition

Our guest at The Rub this month is our old friend Rok One. Because he has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things rap related and makes great mixes, we thought he’d be the perfect person to make an Anti-Valentine’s Day mix. If you believe in holding grudges against exes who did you wrong, lyrics explicitly airing your awkward sexual predictions (hi Kanye!), and a general hostility towards the opposite sex, you’re gonna love this one!
