Mixpak FM 25: DJ Ayres

My Mixpak FM just came out – a mix that includes dancehall, uk funky house, moombahton, jungle, grime, dub and roots reggae. You should already be familiar with Mixpak, the label behind Vybz Kartel & Dre Skull, Melé, Koyote, Sissy Nobby and a plethora of others. I’m really proud of how this one came together and their write-up is very flattering. Stream and download here, tracklist after the jump.

Kutcorners EP in stores

At my other other other job, at 11 Inch Records, we’re celebrating the release of “Diamond”, the solo debut by Kutcorners, a great Vancouverite & friend of The Rub.  It is an absolutely irresistible track that captures the best of 80s New Wave and Boogie and features the vocals of Curtis Santiago. Kutcorners channels the sounds of Luther Vandross, Nu Shooz, and Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, all the while adding a crisp production twist that kills dancefloors. There’s also additional remixes of “Diamond” included in this EP from an incredible group of producers: PPP/The Bling 47 Group’s Waajeed, San Francisco’s J-Boogie (OM Records), Kutcorner’s Canadian brothers Audience, DJ DRM (Bastard Jazz), and New Zealand’s She’s So Rad. Plus, it also has illmatic art by the one & only Kalani Fujimori.

You can grab the digi-EP release at these fine online retailers:
iTunes, Turntable Lab, Beatport, Juno, Amazon, Gigacrate

And you can also check out the promo mix he did for the release at BrooklynRadio or over here

Tensnake & Nadastrom on Rub Radio

One of our favorite new house producers, Tensnake drops in on Rub Radio this month, with an exclusive interview we recorded at Coachella.  And our boys Nadastrom (Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom) stop by to show some love, all casual-like.  As always, DJ Ayres, Cosmo Baker and DJ Eleven man the turntables with some things old and some things new.
