This summer’s run of 3rd Saturday’s in June, July and August kicks off this Saturday. DJ’s Still Life, Dopeshoes and our own DJ Eleven always make this one of the best summer day parties in NY. The sixth summer of Brooklyn’s celebration of West Coast rap and backyard BBQ culture kicks off on Saturday June 18th. The first party of the season is always a special one, signaling that the gates are finally open for summer fun. As always, we have some of the best DJs in NYC spinning nothing but West Coast rap, quality food on the grill, and a few tricks up our sleeve. Don’t act like you haven’t missed us.
Once again this year, Str8 West Coastin’ takes place on the third Saturdays in June, July and August at Project Parlor in Bed-Stuy. Mark your calendars for 6/18, 7/16, and 8/20. We’ll see you in the backyard.

TBT this week to Eleven’s smooth as silk “Soul 1” mixtape that’s been around for quite some time now. It still sounds great to this day primarily because of the classic nature of so much of the tracklist. Blended with ease as he’s well known for doing, Eleven drops essentials from Bobby Womack, Sade, Mary J. Blige, Lonnie Liston Smith, Outkast and more like it’s nothing. Late spring soulful vibes are always very real and this mix is well worth the revisit to tap right into that mindset. Stream and download are below.

#TBT The Rub – Hip Hop History 2002 Mix
Posted: September 17, 2015 Filed under: TBT | Tags: DJ Eleven, TBT, the rubThe Rub’s History of Hip Hop series was an extremely ambitious mixtape project to take on but like always, these mixtapes are curated and mixed with absolute precision. Of course, leave the 2002 version of this series to be one of my favorites and it’s our #TBT mix for the week. Seriously though, 2002 was an amazing year for rap with Cam’ron’s Rocafella debut, Clipse flipping everyone on their ear with their first officially released LP, Scarface dropped a classic in The Fix and so many of the big party cuts became instant classics. Revisit this stellar mix with a stream or a download below.
