TBT this week is the History of Hip-Hop mix for we did for 1986. It’s crazy to think this mix now references music that’s three decades old. Music featured here from legends like The Beastie Boys, Run DMC, King Tee, Eric B. & Rakim, Kool Moe Dee and more still sounds as fresh as it did 30 years ago. Shouts again to our friends at Brooklyn Radio for re-upping all of this mixes to Hearthis.at, which allows streams and downloads directly. Streaming for both Hearthis.at and Mixcloud are below along with a link to a direct DL. Make sure and also revisit the whole series HERE.

#TBT The Rub – Hip Hop History 2002 Mix

The Rub’s History of Hip Hop series was an extremely ambitious mixtape project to take on but like always, these mixtapes are curated and mixed with absolute precision. Of course, leave the 2002 version of this series to be one of my favorites and it’s our #TBT mix for the week. Seriously though, 2002 was an amazing year for rap with Cam’ron’s Rocafella debut, Clipse flipping everyone on their ear with their first officially released LP, Scarface dropped a classic in The Fix and so many of the big party cuts became instant classics. Revisit this stellar mix with a stream or a download below.

#TBT DJ Ayres – DJ Ayres’s Laboratory

So in 2012, Ayres dropped a nice little series of mixes with the insanely talented Mike 2600 designing all the cover art. For today’s #TBT we revisit the DJ Ayres’s Laboratory set that’s loaded with catchy indie dance tunes, remixed pop gems and some tastefully turnt levels towards the end. Ace as always. Stream and download this one below.

The Rub – Sway In The Morning 8.13

ICYMI, We kicked off #itstherub at Verboten last Friday with great success. Party pics courtesy of Sho Shots can be viewed HERE. Eleven and Ayres both had the pleasure of spinning on Sway In The Morning last Thursday in effort of promoting the new jump off. Now we’ve got a link for you to download and check out that early A.M. mix session.

The Rub – Sway In The Morning 8.13

And definitely stay tuned for the 9.11 lineup at Verboten coming at you very soon.

#TBT The Rub – Under The Boardwalk

For #TBT this week in the most literal sense possible, we revisit the Rub Radio mix, Under The Boardwalk, from last summer. To be completely honest, this mix contains some of the most classic songs ever made and Ayres and Eleven put it together last year as an official send off to summer. While it seems that summer is still going strong, kids are getting ready for their return to school and pumpkin spice season is coming way sooner than you might expect. There’s nothing on this mix released after 1968 just to give you a perspective on how timeless this music really is. Revisit this tasty summer send off below.

#TBT The Rub – Rub Radio July ’12

So as The Rub celebrated year number 13 last weekend with an amazing event, it only makes sense to #TBT to 3 years ago where the first decade was put in the books. On the July 2012 Rub Radio mix, Ayres and Eleven mixed so many different styles of fire current records incredibly well (like always), showcasing a couple of Meek Mill sightings, funny enough. On top of it all, Just Blaze was the guest for the year 10 celebration and he’ll be headlining The Rub’s first jump off at Verboten coming up in just 2 weeks on Friday, Aug. 14th.
