The Mulligans. Nope, not an Irish family who loves the drink. It is a new series over at 11 Inch Records with a ridiculous name derived from the boringest of games, golf. In short, a mulligan is when a player gets a second chance to perform a certain move or action. (“I’m going to take a mulligan on that shot.” “Too bad you can’t take a mulligan on that guy you slept with.” You get the idea.)
These are all ideas which were taken from projects that I had to put the kibosh on, for one reason or another. But, instead of letting them languish on a harddrive somewhere, I’m giving them a second chance & letting them fly. So check here every Monday for a new joint & a couple words on where it came from. (Ed: We will try not to call it Mulligan Mondays, but no promises.)
Here are the first 3 so you know the mess you’re getting into:

Over a year after starting on the project, the song that I did with the homie Mike Baker The Bike Maker has finally hit the (digital) record stores (and their virtual shelves)! Vancouver’s Kutcorners contributed a great bassline for the original version. Mike2600, Illo + Keam, and DJ Ayres (you may have heard of him) all flipped great remixes! And, Kalani did a fantastic job freakin’ the artwork.
If you look on down below the artwork, you’ll see more than a couple places to buy it!
Turntable Lab or Gigacrate or Juno or Amazon or iTunes
This Thurs, June 10th, myself & the FAM gang invite out you to join us in celebrating the first birthday of our little party. Lindsey, Myles, Sureshot, Morsy, Queen Majesty, and myself will be playing all the jams to make it a hellafied first birthday party. Free booze will be poured early in the night. Dancing shoes will be broken in. Someone may get pregnant. A good time will be had by all. Be there at 9PM so you don’t miss any of the fun!
Special shouts to the homie DJ Day for having me through his great Thursday night party in Palm Springs the night before Coachella started. Being the savvy dude he is, Day had the foresight to record the night. Through the magic of technical difficulties & a little careful editing, he was forced to whittle it down to only the good 40 minutes of my set. Ha. While I’m disappointed to not be able to go back to hear his set & Gaslamp Killer’s, it’s great to have a live recording which captures the actual feel of the party.
Head to DJ Day’s site to check it out & make sure to spend some time peeping out all the Day recommends. His taste in music and skills as a DJ & producer are unparalleled.
I don’t really know how else to put this… I’m a big Devin The Dude fan!
He’s the perfect combination of an exceptionally talented musician, a great MC, and a hilarious & charismatic guy. He’s been co-signed by and been on records with everyone from Scarface to Kool G Rap, The Roots to Jay-Z, Dre and Snoop to De La Soul. (And that’s only the big names! I’d be typing all day if I listed everyone that ever called him for a guest verse or some singing on a chorus.) Just before the first of the year, I sat down & started going through everything he’s ever been on to unearth all my personal favorites. While doing that, in addition to wishing I smoked weed, I got to thinking on how similar Devin was to another Dude character. Months later, the unholy combination of Devin Copeland + Jeffrey Lebowski + Joe Eleven emerged from the laboratory. And with that…
